With John Carollo

I’m one of you. Long before my first article or big name interview and for as long as I can remember, I’ve been a stock car fan. So for that reason, my name doesn’t matter and neither does my photo. It’s more like we’re just sitting here in the grandstand before the race, talking about Chevys and NASCAR. Hey, you want a cold one? --JC

Teresa, Version Oh Point 8

Teresa Earnhardt. Seven years ago this comin’ February, every race fan in the world sent sympathy, love and prayers her way. Now, after that same amount of time, her approval rating is lower than the President’s. Ok, maybe not that low. So, what the heck happened?

History; She and hubby, Dale, built DEI from their dreams. Between that and keeping Dale on the good side of personal and professional growth, Teresa had her hands full. After Dale died, she was left running DEI all by herself and without her partner. Let’s think on that. How well would you function after losing your soul-mate and the person you had invested so much of your life into? And every day at work, you see that person’s fingerprints everywhere. How would you handle that? Teresa did all the right things to keep DEI together and viable – read win races. Along comes Dale Jr. Things get better but eventually go sour. Jump on over to today and you have a woman who is scorned by the very folks that adored her man.

What happened? Two good but extremely unpopular business decisions, that’s all.

Try these on…Imagine you own a business and one of your star employees says, “Gimme control of your business or I’m history!” Now, I don’t know about you, but I’d probably tell ‘em to go perform a bodily function right straight up a rope.

Then, that same employee leaves the business but wants the rights to one of your best products – the one that came from your late spouse’s Daddy. It’s what your company is known for! Again, I’d probably say something that starts with ‘up’ and ends with ‘yours!’ Now imagine those same scenarios with that pesky family and stepmother matrix making things worse. Tough, huh?

As I learned when I got home from the factory early one night and was surprised by my second wife with a brand-new three-piece suit, there’s always two sides to a story. In my case, that suit was in a pile on the floor between the bed and the window and didn’t really fit me so good. But there was 67 bucks in the pocket so there might just be more than two sides to a story.
