AND IN THIS CORNER...

Or, here's an idea. Next time you start to get mad at someone in the left-hand lane going the speed limit, ask yourself why you're entitled to go faster then that.

Must be nice to be above the road laws the rest of us mere mortals must obey.

The fact is this: Aggressive drivers cause accidents. Accidents kill people. If someone's doing 65 in the left hand lane, guess what? He's not forcing you to zoom around him at 80. You're choosing to do that.

If you can't get where you're going on time while obeying the speed limits, try leaving earlier. But don't, please, put your schedule, or thrills, or general sense of entitlement to any speed you choose above the lives of your fellow drivers.

And like it or not, every time you drive faster then the rest of the traffic, every time you drive a road faster then it's designed for, that's exactly what you're doing.

We're all on the road together. So the next time you consider opening the throttle all the way up on a public roadway, do us all a favor and slow down for the greater good.

Molly Ashby

JP responds:

Molly, ah, yes. You seem to be one of those deliberately driving in the left lane to slow all of us speeders down. Do you really believe that you are making the highways safer by tying up traffic with your misplaced priorities and teaching us a lesson with your passive-aggressive behavior?

My point is that if more drivers would help the general good by driving cooperatively and letting faster drivers by, it will reduce aggressive driving. Let’s work together to remove the obstacles in the road and letting traffic move as freely as possible.

Wannabe law enforcers should leave speed enforcement to the professionals.

Remember, the sign says “Slower Traffic Move Right”.
