Maple Grove Raceway’s Super Chevy Show was one of the largest events in AutoStar Production’s 27 year history. The perfect weather brought participants and spectators from all over the Northeast US.

The Barklage boys seem to have almost unlimited power in their Aeromotive Nitro Coupes.  Last Sunday in Maple Grove, Zach Barklage (above) turned up his '57 Chevy to "warp speed" and unleashed a stunning 6.098 run at 233.03 miles per hour, the best ET of the season in the Aeromotive Nitro Coupe Challenge.  One run later, Cody uncorked a 6.179 at 225.52.

Aeromotive Nitro Coupe Runner Up Doug Winters

Despite those runs, neither Barklage made it past the semis, so it was New Jersey racer Chris Russo taking the win over North Carolina Racer Doug Winters.  Russo, who was also the event's top qualifier, won with a gritty 7.093 at 145.58 against Winters' 8.718 at 122.74.  Despite losing in the semis to Doug Winters, Cody Barklage did vault into a tie with Tennessee ace Tony "Sandman" Williams for the Aeromotive Nitro Coupe Challenge world championship.

Over 630 bracket racers competed in the tough competition at Maple Grove Raceway. Bill Gustin stated, “Very few tracks can compare to the Maple Grove Raceway crew, they are outstanding.”

Martin Flegal of Lititz, PA took his dragster to the winner's circle in the Pro Charger Bracket One Brawl.  Pottstown, PA racer Stephen Dunn took the Jegs Bracket Two bash and Tim Peters was the last racer left standing in the DOT Street Fight.

The Super Chevy Show heads up North to Milan, Michigan for an event this weekend (7/27-29) for an event presented by GM Performance.
