Rain Dampens Barklage Barrage

It took rain to do it, but Missouri's Barklage Boys didn't put another notch in their guns Aug. 18-19 at the O'Reilly Super Chevy Show at Kansas City International Raceway. Zach and Cody were 1-2 in qualifying on Saturday with times that had the rest of the field covered. Zach's qualifying time in his U.S. Marine themed Nitro Coupe was a blistering 6.244 at 225.11. Cody was right there with a 6.267 at 224.11.

The next closest qualifier was over a tenth slower at 6.413.
Before the rains came, the Nitro Coupe class managed one round of eliminations. Both Backlages won, keeping Cody number one in the Aeromotive Nitro Coupe Challenge World Championship race, followed closely by 2006 runner-up Tony "Sandman" Williams and brother Zach Barklage closing fast in third place. With only five events left in the 2007 tour, it looks like a dog fight coming with the importance of every round win magnified.

Raymore, MO, racer John Beasley took the TREMEC Transmission Bonus Race on Saturday over Martin Brown of Collinsville, OK. In the Aeromotive  Jr. Dragster Challenge, Raymore, MO racer Zana Hines took the win over Brett Skaggs of Oak Grove, MO.
