Lou Ficco Jr’s B/Altered powerglide-equipped '04 Cavalier was the third qualifier with a 7.307 on a 7.98 index and Dan Fletcher in a C/EA ’07 Cobalt nailed down the fifth spot with a 8.072 pass on his 8.72 index.
In the always fan popular, wheels-up Super Stock division Dan Fletcher driving his SS/AS ’69 Camaro redeemed his final round loss in Comp recording a 9.352, 134.56 lap on a 9.90 index to take the measure of Brad Rounds, Chevy S-10, 9.335, 142.60 on a 10.25 index.

Other notable Chevy qualifiers at Pomona included two of the top three: 2. SS/BM Ryan McClanahan, Alta Loma, CA, '08 Cobalt 8.411 9.65 -1.239; 3. SS/CM Jimmy DeFrank, Chatsworth, CA, '08 Cobalt 8.725 9.95 -1.225.
In Stock Eliminator action Chevys didn’t make the top of the qualifying list but when it counted in the final round it was an all-bowtie battle. Toby Lang who finished third in World Championship points in 2007 lined his ’81 Malibu up against Jim DeFrank’s ’68 Camaro B/SA car. Lang ran an 11.630, 108.76 on a 13.15 index to defeat DeFrank, who ran a 10.502, 125.71 on his 11.55 index.
