WHO’S CORY KRUSEMAN

Thirty-six year old Cory Kruseman owns and operates his busy sprint car school out of Ventura Raceway on the beach at Southern California’s Seaside Park.

Kruseman was recently crowned the ‘06 USAC/CRA Sprint Car Champion at Perris Auto Speedway having fought in a tight, down-to-the-wire points battle for this season’s title.

Cory is a two-time Chili Bowl Champion, two-time USAC Indiana Speed-Week Champion and a Non-Winged World Champion. He also briefly competed in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and in the Indy Racing League.

Kruseman is still closely aligned with Tony Stewart and drove Stewart’s #21 sprint car to the ‘03 and ‘04 Oval Nationals win among many others while on Stewart’s team and is comfortable behind the wheel of a quick USAC Midget or a 410 cubic-inch, alcohol-fed sprint car.

Cory has left his championship-winning #38 sprint car team from last season to field his own MOPAR 410 sprint car team and work closely on driver development with his Kruseman Sprint Car School.

Availabilities in Kruseman's school can be found by calling (805) 649-1243 or by checking out the website http://kruseman.com -- Darr Hawthorne

First order of the school is to get to the track on time. Cory is punctual and expects his students to be the same. Once you’ve signed in and picked out your racing jumpsuit and helmet (you can bring your own, but the school does provide them) it’s time to listen to Cory give his overview of the school.

Despite his less-than-statuesque physique (looks are definitely deceiving, since I know he has to have a tremendous amount of upper body strength to handle these cars for the duration of a race), Cory is a confident teacher and comes across matter-of-factly. He breezes through the basics and figures that if you didn’t get something, you can ask and he’ll make sure you get it right. Again, he wants you to be safe and enjoy the experience.
