1969 El Camino, Phoenix AZ
8/31/2007

Unfortunately, my ‘69 El Camino it has to sit outside at work and in the driveway at night because all garage space has been taken by my ‘66 Biscayne, ‘57 Bel-Air, ‘57 210, ‘67 Malibu, ‘69 Camaro, and ‘64 Tempest. I found it about 8 years ago and drove it everyday until about four years ago when I rear-ended a tourist. At that point I took it completely
apart, powdercoated the frame, freshened the bench seat interior, replaced the bent sheet metal with used pieces and NOS fenders, re-chromed the bumpers, and had it repainted as you see it now. Since the re-birth, it is my daily driver once again. It’s not a powerhouse but gets me there in style. The mostly stock 350 has a hydraulic Summit camshaft, Edelbrock Performer manifold and a Holley 650cfm carb, and pushes through a TH350 transmission. It maintains factory air conditioning, power steering and manual disc brakes. The paint is close to the original blue, but is actually 1964 Chevrolet Silver Blue. It will be my daily friend until I can no longer pick up the keys.—Mike Perreault
