Questions by Jeff Burk
: Do you think we will ever see 1,000 cubic inch Pro Stock / Pro Mod engines?
Not in Pro Stock, but maybe in Pro Modified and in grudge racing during the next 5 years.
: Do you wish you were still part owner of the IHRA?
No.
: What do you see for the future of IHRA Pro Stock and the IHRA?
IHRA needs a company with a lot of funds to invest in the organization to make it grow, have better TV coverage, and to make heroes. As far as the future goes, Pro Stock is an elite class. They are a special breed of people that like naturally aspirated engines and don’t want any part of nitrous or forced induction. Pro Stock will continue to grow as long as IHRA treats the category fairly.
: Would one of your 815-915 cubic inch motors make a good supercharged combination using a screw blower?

Our new 5.300 bore space design with the hemispherical heads would do well around 800 to 830 cubic inches. I would go with a 5.000 inch bore and 5.125-inch stroke to make 805 cubic inches here.
: What do you think of the ADRL?
It’s a good organization for maximum cubic inch engines and “run what you brung” style racing, but it needs more money to make it stronger.
: How do you like the fact that this sanctioning body has virtually no rules other than strict safety rules?
That’s great for outlaw racing.
: What is your feeling about head and neck restraint devices and should they be made mandatory for every class?
I think it’s a good rule and most people will want to use it to feel safer in the event of an accident.
