Corvette Racing stays ‘green’ for Petit Le Mans race this Saturday
It’s not easy being green, but Corvette Racing is dedicated to being ecologically responsible. Powered by cellulosic E85R ethanol racing fuel made primarily from wood waste and armed with a variety of energy-saving technologies, Corvette Racing is aiming for an overall victory in the inaugural American Le Mans Series Green Challenge. This race-within-a-race will be contested on October 4 in conjunction with the 1,000-mile/10-hour Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, the 10th round of the 11-race series. Super Chevy Show makes first appearance at Atlanta Motor Speedway
This weekend (Oct. 3-5) marks the first time the Super Chevy Show will be at Atlanta Motor Speedway for a weekend of automotive fun.
The Atlanta Motor Speedway edition of the Super Chevy Show will feature the King of the Street drag racing competition. This "old school" event will shun the use of an electronic ‘tree' for timing using instead hand-flagged starts for eighth-mile racing. In addition, the drag strip will be lit up with the very first jet car drag racing events, wild and wooly wheel-standers, nitro coupes and Mr. 409. Some of the fastest drag racing in the three-year history at Atlanta Motor Speedway will take place at the Super Chevy Show this weekend. The event will also feature a huge GM Show N' Shine, a huge vendor midway, swap meet, cars for sale corral and a collector car auction.
This is not your typical Super Chevy Show. There will be no bracket racing at this event. The Super Chevy Show will include eight categories of heads-up drag racing, both Saturday and Sunday, Cooper Tire Burnout Contest, King of the Street, the Tremec Car Show Series, Performance & Restoration Marketplace Midway, Swap Meet, and Car Corral.
