Castellana debuts Al-Anabi 1970 1/2 Camaro

Shannon Jenkins put teammate Mike Castellana’s immaculate new Jerry Bickel Race Cars-built ADRL Pro Nitrous 1970 1/2 Camaro through its shakedown runs during an Al-Anabi test session at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Ill., on June 30. Castellana's new ride is rumored to be the lightest doorslammer ever produced by Bickel's shop.

The "Iceman" wheeled the burgundy Chevy to a sixty-foot elapsed time of 0.972 seconds on the car's very first pass! Rickie Smith (3.98/184) and Burton Auxier (4.07/183) also made testing efforts before the team's multi-trailer caravan heads to Topeka for the ADRL Independence Drags at Heartland Park July 3-4. Carpenter heads for Topeka ADRL race

With a venue change for their July 3-4 Hardee’s Independence Drags, the National Guard ADRL heads for the first time to Heartland Park Topeka.

Charles Carpenter has said he will be there with his rebuilt ’55 Chevy, fresh out of the Alan Pittman Race Cars shop in Greenville, SC, still with an unpainted nose. Carpenter and his car were injured at the ADRL season opener in Houston in early March and now both have healed up enough to get back to the track. He has had some success as a tuner for several race teams during his recuperation.
