MAGIC TWANGER
Proving GMCOPO's Automatic Transmission Control Box
You know the frustration. That last bit of control and calibration eludes you like a greasy pig. If you only had a pluck-your-magic-twanger box to give your stuff a sliver more information or confirmation that’ll make it run smoother and more effectively than the next guy’s.
Electronic help is the cleanest, most cost-effective, and most prolific path to engine enrichment. So, okay, the wheels are strapped to the floor of the Wheel to Wheel (www.w2winc.com) dyno bay, and the operator’s ready to mat the throttle. He’s in a test mule, a street-driven vehicle, so we’re only concerned with available torque at given rpm.

We’ll apply the GMCOPO (www.gmcopo.com) Automatic Transmission Control Box (ATCB) to the 4L60E transmission in the truck and then lock it in Second gear to prevent up- or downshifting during the test. Locking the transmission in a single gear allows for a more consistent measurement of engine torque and at a lower engine speed.
Once the control harness is plugged in, the rest of the adventure takes place in the front seat. So easy, even Dick Cheney could do it. |
