We assembled the coil/overs by sliding the spring over the shock body with the cap in place. The threaded collar screws over the shock body and controls the spring preload. A special wrench is necessary to adjust the threaded collar. |

With the coil/over assembly complete, we attached the shock to the bracket on the axle housing and to the upper shock mount on the crossmember. Being able to position the lower mount in one of three holes will give us the exact stance -- and the traction we’ll need. |

With the rearend roughed in place, the next order was to install the Panhard bar, which runs laterally, from one side of the housing to a corresponding bracket on the upper shock crossmember. It nulls lateral movement and keeps the housing properly located throughout vertical suspension travel. |
Here, we fit the Panhard bar into the upper mount. A little elbow grease (and a pry bar) was necessary to nudge the end of it into the bracket. Then we tightened down the polyurethane-bushed end.

Heidt’s upper four-link frame mount has a small bracket designed for a new snubber that is intended to soften the blow during full suspension travel. We had a pair of Energy Suspension polyurethane “bull nose” snubbers in stock that fit perfectly. |
