I opted for the fiberglass custom fit tonneau cover from A.R.E. and, quite frankly, I have no idea what took me so long. The A.R.E LS-II cover was ordered with the original GM paint code for Black Onyx, and the match is perfect.
The manufacturer recommends that this item be mounted to the truck by professional installers rather than the end user, as, in this case it was much easier to install with the help of a forklift. The forklift also helps for installing the rubber sealing gaskets.
The fiberglass top is attached to the truck bed with clamps and bolts.

| The installation also included a simple tie-in to the electrical locking system at the driver’s door, so when approaching the truck with fresh cargo the OEM remote release unlocks the tonneau cover as well (the cover also includes a pair of keys). The total installation time was fifty-five minutes. | |
