We put the Primer Plus kit on from KillerRons.com on the car so a crewman wouldn't  have to use a squeeze bottle of alky to prime the engine and it is about the slickest deal I have ever seen. We only had to start the engine four times to get the gas valve set. Now it idles on pump gas and warms up in a few minutes on a pint of gas. Before we were looking at 2 gallons (at least) of alcohol to get the engine warmed up and a lot of alcohol in the oil that would have to be dried out with the vacuum pump and engine heat. I would guess the Primer Plus will save me about $200.00 in alcohol and will likely extend the number of laps between oil changes so that I will save another $100.00 on race oil this season as well.

Stan bolted on a set of Ohio Crankshaft fabricated aluminum valve covers and we are ready to see how it does on the track. We are trying to get a couple converters to try. I have an old 9" I sent in to have it matched up the 620 and we ordered a new 10" from Alan Pope Performance. We are trying to get another one to test with from Hughes but no word on that one yet.

Changing  every wire and hose to replace the Mopar wedge we had in the dragster with the new Ohio Crankshaft Chevy took the better part of two weeks of working during the evenings.

We knew we had to have the best battery and starter to prevent starting problems. To achieve that goal we called on the folks at Powermaster. We chose their  #9400 Ultra-Torque starter. It puts out a whopping 250 ft/lbs of torque. We hooked it up to a PowerMaster D1000 16-volt battery. That big ol' 620 spins over like your grandpa's 283 grocery-getter!

Josh Kanselaar of  Kanselaar Racing Transmissions, put together a Dedenbear case equipped 1.80 'glide for us so we should be ready to make some laps and sort this new Chevy out.

Ed Note:  Since sending this story Jock and son Andy have had the car  out several times and have been pretty successful . It runs consistent 7.50/180 laps  on the quarter mile and 4.60's/140+ in the eighth. With son Andy strapped in between the tubes the team was runner-up at the NHRA Lucas Oil Divisional race at Brainard going five rounds and just losing by a couple of thou in the Top Dragster finals.

We have some great articles coming In the  months ahead  on the Computech DataMaxx LCD dash and data acquisition system. We also will go over our experiences with the new Crew Chief Pro 7.0 weather and ET prediction software.

Thanks to all of these companies for helping us "put a bowtie in our shop". Thanks everyone!
