
Pull the driveshaft back and out of the tailshaft. Have that spare yoke or the proper size plastic cap ready to put over (or in) the tailshaft to keep the fluid from draining out.

Three bolts hold the torque converter to the flywheel (flexplate). Transmissions manufactured in 1975 and earlier used 9/16 bolt head x 3/8 x 16 threads. Later models used metric 15mm x 10mm x 1.5mm threads. Using a pry bar, rotate the flywheel to access all the bolts.

The 3/8-inch bolts that secure this (’68 Camaro) transmission crossmember are accessed by holes in the sub-frame. Remove them now.
