Remove the dipstick and plug the hole with the proper plastic stopper (PN CP-7A). An old spark pIug and a rag will accomplish the same thing. Sometimes, it’s easier to get at the top three of the six 3/8 x 2-inch bellhousing bolts from above before the car goes on the hoist. If not, you’ll need a ratchet, a long extension, and a swivel socket.

There are two coolant line fittings and one TV/detent cable port. There are four threaded holes on the right side of the transmission case. Pivot the loosened transmission to the side to access them. Have the proper plugs on hand to staunch fluid leak. The transmission is now ready to be removed.
